North East Restoration exists because too much land in the North East sits written off — condemned by a history of industrial use it can no longer answer for. We think most of it can still work. Under the backing of an established waste management group, we treat ground where it lies and hand it back ready to earn its keep again.

That's not a slogan — it's the reason the company was set up under PC&MS Ltd in the first place. The North East has more than its share of former collieries, industrial yards and derelict plots that get passed over for development because nobody wants to take on the ground itself. We take on exactly that ground.

Approach

Precision over excavation.

Most sites don't need to be dug up and driven away. They need to be understood, treated where they lie, and handed back — with a paper trail that stands up to scrutiny. That's the discipline behind every job we take on, from a single yard to a live sporting facility.

I.

Treat in place

In-situ remediation wherever the science allows it, so the site keeps its structure, its trees and its history — and the client keeps their budget. Excavation and disposal is the fallback, not the default, and we'll say so plainly if it's genuinely what a site needs.

II.

Document everything

Every tonne moved, every sample taken and every consultation with the Environment Agency is recorded, so the completed site comes with a defensible record, not just a tidy lawn. That record is what protects the landowner if the site is ever questioned again.

III.

Work around live operations

Very few of our sites are empty fields. They're courses that are still being played, yards that are still trading, land that still has to earn its keep during the work. Programmes are phased and sequenced so the site keeps functioning while treatment goes on.

IV.

Leave it working

The measure of success isn't a clean report — it's a site that goes back into use: turf that's played on, ground that's built on, land that earns again. We stay involved through handback, not just through sign-off.

01

Investigate

Site walkover, sampling and a risk assessment that pins down what's actually there and where.

02

Treat

In-situ or ex-situ treatment, sequenced to keep the rest of the site operating.

03

Reinstate

Regrading, topsoiling and drainage correction, restoring the ground's original function.

04

Hand back

Full documentation and sign-off, with the site returned ready for turfing, building or planting.

Why North East Restoration

What working with us actually looks like.

a.

Group-backed, not one van and a shovel

Every project draws on PC&MS Ltd's existing waste management infrastructure — classification, haulage, permitting relationships — rather than being built from scratch each time.

b.

Built around your operation, not the other way round

Programmes are phased so a course, yard or facility can keep operating. We fit around your calendar, not the reverse.

c.

A record you can actually rely on

Every site closes out with documentation built for scrutiny — from insurers, lenders, or the Environment Agency — not just a tidy handover.

The Group

Backed by an established waste management group, not a one-site operation.
